Remove dog hair from rubberish floor mat?
Anyone have any suggestions for removing dog hair from our door mat? I bought a very nice door mat, and it is now a big clump of dog hair. The material is a soft rubber, with a raised design.
To give you an idea of the material, the mat looks something like this:

(sorry, couldn't figure out how to put the image into the post.)
If I can't clean it, I'm throwing it out. It was $15 or $20, so I want to give it a shot to get it clean. But I am NOT picking it out by hand on a regular basis.

Buy a pair of kitchen rubber gloves and give that a try. I use them on my furniture and it works great.

Rug rake ... it has an extendable handle - think it's 4'. Should be able to find it in pet stores or something similar.

The rubber glove works great for furniture and drapes, but not on this silly mat.
Pressure washer is something to think about in a few weeks when it warms up though. Now that you mention it, it's what I do to the car mats...
So frustrating to buy a cute PET doormat, and the find out it seems to breed and multiply pet hair there is no much stuck in it.
I didn't buy it at a local store, otherwise I would take it back.
Thanks for the help

Wet a rag or paper towels and rub that over the mat - should "gather" the hair into clumps that you can remove. Worked for me when I had the dawg and he shed all over the low nap carpets. Vacuuming wouldn't budge it but the wet paper towels did. I even invested ($12) in one of those pet hair squeegee things and that made no difference.

The damp paper towel just got the hair wet - now my house smells more like wet dog than usual. The mat is now outside the door, full coat of hair intact.
Can't wait til it warms up and I can clip the mutt

Pets do that, not mats.
Just think, all that hair in the mat ISN'T stuck to your furniture and/or clothing.

In our home we consider dog hair a condiment.
She's nearly 10 years old.I'm just looking for an easier way to clean it out of the mat

Take it to the car wash...It'll cost you $1- $2 to wash it...

Re: Remove dog hair from rubberish floor mat?
This works for a dry rubberised mat.
Get a roll of packaging tape. Unroll it to the full length or width of the mat (no need to cut it off the roll). Stick it to the mat. Press it down, pull it up, then press it down again. Continue sticking it to hairy places until it no longer sticks. Pull out more tape and repeat.
This removes hair quickly and easily without having to replace these often expensive mats.
