Treats killing dogs

Post by Glacier »

If you are feeding your dog chicken jerky dog treats, you might be killing your dog. Dog food doesn't fall under food labeling laws, so they don't actually have to tell you where the food originates (the only rule that the government enforces is one that stipulates whatever is said on the bag must also be printed in French). Surprise, surprise, this latest food in question comes from China.

After numerous complaints down in the States, the FDA tested the dog treats, but found nothing. CBC's Marketplace sent a sample away to a German lab for testing after similar complaints arose here in Canada. Tune into the show tonight at 8 to find out what they found. And don't give your dog any more treats.

Unfortunatly most every dog food contains ingredients from China. The ONLY company that can prove NO links to anything coming from China is Champion pet foods in Alberta (Acana, Orijen, etc). The food is 100% Canadian (except the odd occasion where they run out of their added vitamins, in which case they order from Switzerland or the UK -- with no links to China).

But you're right -- those chicken jerky treats are the worst!!!

If it does not come directly from the earth or you cannot identify its mother then you should not be feeding it to your dog or you for that matter.

What ever happened to just saving a little bite of chicken for the dog.?
