Pet Friendly Condos

Post by djc »

Hi there, I'm starting to make a more serious push into buying my first place. One thing I have trouble tracking down accurate information on is what condos around town are pet friendly? Specifically dog friendly, big dog too, about 70lbs. The only one I know of is The Verve which seems like a bit of a gong show so it's most likely not an option. I'm not looking for specific listings, just more curious about what buildings that I could keep an eye on.

Thanks!

Best suggestion I can give you is find a Realtor, then make sure they know you are looking for a pet (large) friendly strata Condo.

I'm sure there are small pet condo's, not sure about large pet.

Condo's pet status is up to each statra council, now some only allow small pets.

Check your Pm :)

I agree that a realtor might be your best first step...

Try the In Vue building on Springfield behind Orchard Plaza. I believe that strata allows larger dogs and even has a dog wash.

I am not sure, but I think the condo fees for a two bedroom in In Vue are $440 a month.

That, when applied to a mortgage, is a huge chunk of change. But I agree that if it allows big dogs, then it might be worth it.

Just found this listing:
http://www.realtor.ca/propertyDetails.a ... d=15547166

asking price is $439,000
Listing ID: 10097812

Fees are $553, and I believe the OP said this will be a first time purchase.

Maintenance Fees
$553.70 Monthly

So it might be a little pricey for someone moving into the market.

2 bedroom condo at Waterscapes has strata of approximately $280-300... And all size dogs seem to be allowed.

Good luck finding your condo and ....
Having said that, remember that the Strata is only as good as the people on it and all you need is for someone to get themselves voted on for the SPECIFIC purpose to get rid of big dogs.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Lots of great replies! Thanks!

Side note, I DO have a Realtor. I'd just like to monitor the market a little more myself than have to keep checking in. Nothing is imminently happening anyway, but this is a great reference!
