We are travelling in California right now and noted in the park rules where we are staying that California law says that dogs must be on a leash with a maximum length of 5 feet.

I like that idea...I once saw a biker get totally wiped out because a lady had her little dog on retractable leash and the dog ran in front of the biker and the leash cause the bike to crash.

Vancouver is super dog friendly. I love it. Just another thing that makes Kelowna a miserable place to live.

I agree, our dog is always on a leash and I would say 90% are not. Not only are they dangerous to little kids but other dogs and they crap all over the place. How is the owner supposed to know if their dog took a dump if it is 100 meters ahead of them. I also love it when they do pick up the crap but leave it on the trail in a bag and forget to pick it up on the way back. It's not about being dog friendly, it's about safety and crap everywhere.

Why slam Kelowna? Kal Lake park is in the Vernon area.

Funny, because I was just visiting Stanley park and the beach area where it says no off leash dogs, there was a few people with off leash dogs there having a great time. I believe the sign said, up to $2000 fine but most had no leash on the beach.
