Question? Why does the suspect in this case, who has been charged with a variety of criminal offenses, not have his name released to the media? Can't figure out what the standard is in cases where charged people aren't identified. It is not a case where there is a need to protect the identity of a victim or something... so why?

A 38-year-old Kelowna man is facing possible charges over a bizarre road incident in Vernon last week.

North Okanagan RCMP arrested a suspect last Wednesday morning after receiving a number of reports about an erratic driver in a white pickup heading northbound on Highway 97, from Lake Country into Vernon.

The suspect is alleged to have hit the median and several vehicles before police officers caught up with the damaged truck at the intersection of 32nd Street and 25th Avenue.

Police say the suspect was alone in the vehicle and was taken into custody. He has since been released.

Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance have been forwarded to Crown lawyers for consideration.

The name of the driver has not been released.
