That trend actually started back in the 60s in Vancouver. They weren't paid at the time, but were welcome to graffiti the hell out of the fences. I wonder if one could find photos of it online.

Canada’s largest graffiti production wall nears completion.
A multi-artist mural is transforming a vandalized sound wall in Toronto's west end.
<snip> The 300-metre-long, 6-metre-high wall, between the tracks and Joe Shuster Way, was recently targeted by Toronto’s anti-graffiti bylaw enforcement and threatened with a mundane destiny: repeated whitewashing to cover up uninvited tagging.
Property developer Urbancorp, which built the wall, tried to dissuade graffiti by planting ivy — with little success. So it opted to go the way of, “If you can’t beat them, why not join them?” explains vice president David Mandell. <snip>

Graffiti Alley in The Fashion District runs south of Queen Street West from Spadina Avenue to Portland Street beginning at 1 rush lane, Toronto, Ontario Canada .
There is about a kilometer's worth of wall space of varying quality.

Commercial Drive area has a lot of them. Great job. But something tells me people who do murals and idiots who put tags all over the place are not the same people.

Murals should not be confused with graffiti.

Re: Looking for graffiti vandals
True - we're looking at three different categories: Murals, graffiti, and tagging.

They then should drop the tagging crap, stick to murals

I chose "Other" - public stoning or hanged by the neck until dead. It would certainly teach respect for other's property in a hurry, which seems to have gone off the rails in recent years.

Re: Looking for graffiti vandals
Our property gets tagged several times a year and it costs us plenty of $ to buy paint and also time to cover over this mess!
I would love to catch the people who think it's acceptable to deface someone's property. I can think of several ways to get the point across to them that it's not. The least of which would be to paint some of their stuff and see how they like it!
We should bring back public flogging or other such punishment.
This might work.

That's worked out great for me!

I'm fine with that.
You got my vote.
