What will they make at the old glass plant?
I'm thinking Hardy board, or the equivalent. Is there cement manufactured in the area? Yes, at Kamloops. Do we have sawdust in the area? Fer sure. Hardy board is really heavy. There is a rail line through the property. I'm thinking it will be Hardy board (or a knockoff).

Some info about the board manufacturing process here:

I thought they had a beetle-kill pellet plant there, and people weren't happy about it. Was that a different property?

The Pellet plant is pretty much next door. The glass plant has been empty since the shut down. I heard that the new business may have something to do with manufacturing solar panels , but the source of that info doesn't seem to have any direct line of inside info , so , ????
Of note , they did say that the new operation would only use part of the facility and look for other businesses to fill it up. The warehouse there is enormous. If they decide to use the warehouse , some roofing company is going to make some big bucks fixing it.

Thanks for the clarification, gordon_as.
It is a huge property, makes sense there could be more than one thing happening on site.

I have no idea what they are going to make, but whatever it is there are going to be jobs to be had.
From Vernon to Cherryville this is a great announcement.
Looking forward to finding out tomorrow.

Did they? I thought they just closed the one Canadian plant and kept all the work at their US plants.

Whatever the plant becomes, I'm sure Christie will be there, talking about how she worked "tirelessly" to get this plant opened. Eric Foster will, too.
It's good news for Vernon, but the market place for building products should really get the credit. I'm sure Christie will claim credit for that, too. I can hear the speech already. "ya know what? At the end of the day the bottom line is all about families and jobs. So let's move forward and put the past behind us."

Paneling of some kind, bob vernon
http://www.castanet.net/edition/news-story-177637-2-.htm#177637
He said significant ancillary jobs would be created from two complementary businesses that would start up on the site, making panelling and building engineered homes.
Molnar also envisions an eco park that would allow 20 to 25 companies to operate on the gigantic lot.

They're not moving here to pay good wages.
