now this is pretty neat. They sure made a big deal of it back then with Police escorts and parades. Too bad no one cares about the Canadian cadets and Army anymore.

pretty neat to see the passenger trains in Vernon as well.

Very cool! Thanks for posting. It was cool to see the lookout on Kal Lake before the development all over.

Nick's Kandy Kitchen at the 14:11 mark.

But more importantly, the Consolidated PBY Catalina (Canso) on Kal Lake at the 9:32 mark :200:

Wow, that sure brings back some memories! My introduction to Vernon was at VACC back in '66 and I remember the town looking pretty much as it did in this film. Watching the cadets marching across 97 with almost no traffic in sight is a good reminder of how quiet this little 'burg was back then. Amazing stuff!
I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

I did the 2 week course , two summers.....one time on Herbie Hill..
Gets pretty warm on Dieppe square...
Went to Glenemma shooting a few times, from camp and with 903 cadets.
We came in first in the annual inspection one year..
Got to see the Bren in action the last week they used them.. ..wish I could have shot with it..
I'd like to help You OUT,
Which way did You come in??

I did the two week Junior Cadet Leader course at the Clear Lake cadet camp in Manitoba way back in 1965. That was a whole 'nother experience from the Vernon Camp, I'll tell you. No barracks for us, we slept in WW2 vintage circular tents with wooden floors pitched on a gravel square. I remember the mess hall at one end of the square was mounted on stilts, never did find out why.

I did Vernon the next year and remember the things you mentioned as well. I guess I was one of the lucky ones and got to shoot the Bren at Glenemma a few times, even cutting down a small tree with it once. I went through at least 2 barrels and Gawd knows how much surplus WW2 ammo doing that!
