Skydive noise to get real loud this week

One of the major sources of letters to the editor has lately been the noise from skydiving airplanes leaving the Vernon airport. With a full load of parachuters on board, the local plane makes a fair amount of noise as it climbs to reach more than 10,000 feet above the city, when the skydivers all bail out.
This week, there will be a skydiving festival in Vernon. Folks from all over Canada and the western US will converge, filling hotel rooms, bars, and restaurants spending money. They will even bring in a Shorts Brothers Skyvan, a plane with rear exit, to allow multiple skydivers to bail out at once. It's a twin engine and should make a lot more noise, enraging those cranky Vernon residents who's pastoral silence is shattered by the noise of departing planes.
They're darn good and mad. And the ranting letters to the editor should get over the top after the long weekend.
Here's a link about last summer's festival.
