quote from food smith

Because this is a pattern of misconduct-oriented behaviour for this Teacher. Heck, even read above to see how far back it likely goes -- there's a former student from 17 years ago speaking about him doing the very thing he has been reprimanded for twice now. Seems he just didn't get caught for awhile...

I think you missed the point of my comment foodsmith and misread it at the same time. Lol
You clearly have a personal vendetta against him. Or it was one of your kids in the class and you’re just another liberal on a PC agenda. Back 17 years ago at VSS I personally witnessed how disresctful some teenagers were and like I said in my previous comment I highly doubt respectful behaviour from teenagers has improved. Kids have to earn respect, it is not just given. If Mr Morgan swore at students in class then they deserved to be talked to disrespectfully as they clearly were repeatedly disturbing him from doing his job.

Some kids really do need to shut the hell up and I for one am glad that someone has the balls to come out and say it. Otherwise they are just perpetuating a much bigger problem that we have with our youth.

Liberal snowflake society? That's not a real thing, it's just a term used to express disdain for youth. The same disdain your generation's elders likely had for you. With your roll n rock music and your long hair. Or whatever you were up to that they didn't like.

There's an irony to your post though...if these students had been taught to be respectful, they most likely *would* be scared and intimidated by a respected, trusted authority figure acting this way. Yet you bolded the students' reaction to point out some sort of weakness. If they didn't respect this teacher, wouldn't his tantrum just be met by a forest of middle fingers?

We get it dontrump. You hate liberal snowball kids or whatever cutesy term you use. You'll assume the worst about them at every opportunity. You sound like someone who glares out your window at the high school kids passing by, and hasn't spent 5 minutes with a young person since you were one yourself.

You know what this teacher did, but you defend him.

You don't know what the students did, but you condemn them.

All because it lines up with your worldview.
My fervent hope is that you and your tax dollars will be reunited in the afterlife.

What if this Teacher had his feelings Intimidated? Would they suspend the kid who did so, or the student who disrespected the teacher?

I know only 1% of the students have attitude but maybe it's time we stop playing to the one percent who are disruptive, disrespectful and whn offended it' all about them. Those are the same ones I used to see were so tough on the street and when locked up, it was a phone call to "Mommy". They would cry on the phone telling Mommy come and get me.

I think there is a time where a teacher should be able to control the room and if needed literally remove the problem child from the classroom. There are problems today with students as we know, as the parents no longer parent in some cases.

I am going to bet that the school failed to pull students from the class and get the rest of the story as to what actually happened before the teacher spoke out right or wrong. Two wrongs don't make it right.

Hard to say. What the students did, or the school's subsequent handling of the students, wouldn't be included in the info that's been made public.

As a professional, obviously, there's no excuse for this educator's conduct. Whether he was provoked or not, that's not how they teach classroom management.

I actually don't see what the big deal is here. He screwed up, he was disciplined. The students involved may or may not have done something to merit being disciplined themselves. I'm sure they weren't sitting there minding their own business. But in the end it doesn't matter.

I love it when people use the respect argument and yearn for the values of yesteryear when those "liberal snowflakes" didn’t exist.....tell me how many of your teachers, when you were in school, used language like that.

None, right? It works both ways.
It would have been unthinkable for a teacher to behave that way. They received their respect from their position, not by acting like a petulant little :cuss: .

I agree that there are irritating little :cuss:'s out there who have no respect, but that doesn’t excuse this teacher and his actions.

I think the point, JFlem, is that nothing is being done... A slap on the wrist for a repeat offender who, at one time, chose to discuss sexual activities and personal matters with a teenage female student and who downloaded porn for his 'blog' in front of a class of 13 year olds... with virtually zero repercussions. (All Public Record)

The point of all this was to really just draw attention to the fact that something is fundamentally wrong with the systems we have in place.

Hard to hold anyone accountable to a standard when that standard seems to be so malleable -- and where the stakeholder, ie.the general public, are more interested in pointing fingers and attempting to sound dmart as part of some weird one-uppance than in exploring remedies.

What's done is done, and Mr. Justin Morgan is not alone in his transgressions; there are vast numbers of records speaking to the same behviou r from others in our province.

I have no affiliation with thia person; my industry rarely, if ever, encounters the teaching profession at all; my children have likely never crossed his path, unless he subs in Kelowna. What I do know is there are far too many Justin Morgans teaching our kids and if no one says anything about their concerns then nothing will change: the standard falls, and integrity if the profession with it.

And, well, I tend to be a voice who often speaks alongside or on behalf of the most vulnerable -- in this case, it's the kids.

If senses like caring and compassion make me a 'snowflake'... So be it.

K so grade five. Had a notorious teacher. He always kept hand lotion in his desk. A bag of fuzzy peaches candies . Loved the young girls. Always got really creepy.

I complained about this a lot. It was so bad that as a boy my grades were in the toilet and the teacher spent all his time looking at 9 year old girls.

Eventually i was kicked out of school and this teacher went on to ruin more educations in future years. Have talked to a few parents of kids and kids themselves who had issues with same teacher.

He was funny ill give him that. Liked to throw chalk brushes at kids when they were yapping out of turn.

However his behaviour was outrite bizarre and i should not have been rail roaded. He should have. What kind of man teaches grade school ?

Like in the real world.

Students these days are brought up in this non-competitive, sanitized, everyone gets an award bubble ... then they cough out into the real world and are shocked by what they see. I thought school was supposed to prepare our kids for life ... and in real life they will meet lots of people that will behave like this teacher ... I'd rather they had the experience so they aren't shocked when they hit reality.

We had a shop teacher that came in and saw us fooling around (ya we were a bad homeroom class)and we were fooling around with the spot welder and such. He had a enough and dropped a bunch of fbombs like ...if I remember because its been so long ago...Everyone sit the F down and shut the F up...G** Damn it.

Then he left and we ran strait to our chairs. and I mean Ran. that class was soo quiet you could hear a pin drop on the moon. We all looked at eachother thinking...well we are all dead.

10 minutes later (which it felt like hours)

He cam in quietly and asked...did I actually say the stuff that I said to you guys...

one of my classmate piped up and said yes..

that was it...we didnt run to the schoolboard about it...because if we did...we would be in trouble not the teacher for fooling around....how times have changed.

Just want to point out that when this story first broke , many of his students (past and present) spoke out saying what an awesome teacher he was.
