Had to remind some folks that have them on their property not to kill them. Most snakes I have run across have been garters but there has been the odd rattlesnake, gophers and a couple of others. People need to know they are protected and need to be "relocated" within the area they are found (500 metres would be what I would do).

I agree, any animal part of our ecosystem should be left alive (if need be safely moved).
I could care less for invasive species, let them die (include plants) i.e starlings
