Dogs at work....
https://www.castanet.net/news/Vernon/22 ... u-need-one
While this might seem like a great idea to most (and in most cases it is very enjoyable), it can be a really bad scene.
We had several dogs at home growing up and love the furries! But, having been bitten by a dog brought to work by my boss wasn't funny (and I wasn't the only staff member it happened to but my bite was a puncture bite - not a nip). Said boss also refused to leave the dog at home after the incidents so we were forced to interact with this mutt daily.
That isn't something that is a good vibe at work so while MOST dogs are fun and furry and loveable, some are not and when it's the boss's dog and he chooses the dog over his staff that is not good for office morale.
So, unfortunately, I have to say leave the furries at home. Oh, and this dog "hadn't bit anyone before"....well, now he has...2 people who are forced to be in it's company all day long not knowing if it's in a biting mood on any given day or not.

I have no issue with dogs at work provided the owners have them under control and they don't interfere. There will always be exceptions though.

Re: Dogs at work....
I’m a dog owner and as much as I love pets, I don’t think it’s a great idea to have them in the workplace. Not everyone loves or wants to be around animals. Even well trained pets can be unpredictable at times, and not all pet owners are great either...
A few weeks ago I was at a local business who had allowed one of their customers to bring their dog into the waiting area. The dog was on one of those retractable leashes, and was about 8 feet away from them, blocking my path to the washroom. I asked the owner if her dog was friendly and if I could pet him. She said yes. As I bent over to pat the dog on the side, he bit me on the forearm. The owner seemed mildly surprised and of course told me that he had never bit anyone before. Luckily I was wearing a long sleeved shirt and he didn’t manage to pierce my skin. I still have a bruise from his teeth. The owner apologized, but didn’t do anything to restrain or correct her dog.
Again, I’m a pet lover. But not everyone is.

Always bring my dogs to work. I care far more about them than i do about people. If someone doesnt like dogs. They hire a different guy. Works for me

Re: Dogs at work....
I don't disagree with many of the comments here.
I definitely prefer the company of animals over most humans. I'm fortunate in that I am self employed and work from home. Therefore I get to enjoy having my dog snoring away next to my desk and cat howling in the background while I'm on the phone with clients. Animals can be extremely therapeutic. Having them around while at work can be great stress relief. But I also think it depends on the place of work. Perhaps not in a business that involves a lot of random customers coming and going. Some folks have had bad experiences, phobias or allergies. Obviously you wouldn't have pets in a place that sells food. I think there are laws restricting that sort of thing.

My best friends are all puppers I’ve met at work.
From my experience, business owners have been very much realistic in determining whether or not their dog (and a few cats) are well behaved enough for the environment. I’ve had several who started bringing them in as puppies to socialise them, both with customers and customers’ own dogs.

What about if someone is allergic ? Employers have a duty to accommodate.
Don't hire someone because they are afraid or allergic ?? Have fun explaining that one

If the business has a bring your dog policy, and you're allergic or afraid. Maybe it would be prudent to apply elsewhere. Accommodating does not equate to catering.

Re: Dogs at work....
I have a lawyer's office that I deal with. Whenever dealing with lawyers can be very stressful. I have met 2 of the lawyer's dogs while in the waiting room, one was very large, the other small.
I have appreciated both of them. They made me feel comfortable and much more relaxed.
I wish the doctor's office had that big dog (Duke) in the waiting room before I had to go in for my Prostate exam. Interaction with these animals has improved my composure during stressful events.

LOL !!! Good luck with your human rights violation lawsuit that will follow based on the fact you did not hire someone because they are allergic / afraid of dogs. Especially when the job likely does not involve working with dogs. (ie. a dog trainer, vet etc.)

The world has indeed gone full *bleep*.
That is to say full R3T@RD.
"I need my pupper in an industrial environment!"
News headline the next day: "Pupper sucked into wood chipper"
