Spotting New Fires With All This Smoke
How do you suppose anyone can spot any new fires that break out around here with all this smoke making the visibility so bad? And can air crews even action one of it does start?

Re: Spotting New Fires With All This Smoke
Fires are easily discernable from the air, from high flying aircraft and satellites using infra red detectors.
And no the air fire fighting crews are grounded while the smoke is dense.

Re: Spotting New Fires With All This Smoke
There are air patrols up today over the whole Kamloops Fire District and any fire would vent through the smoke haze and be seen. Any remote fires would have to be from lightning sleepers. Person caused fires would be easily picked up as they are in view of the public, along highways or rural neighborhoods. Fire Wardens are paroling all of the lakes and known party sites for illegal campfires, escaped illegal campfires, or illegal campfires which were left burning. So good chance new fires would be picked up.
