More jobs and tax money for Kelowna. Clean industry. Let's get it going.
Sorry Kelowna. I have to change that to Penticton.

What does the Penticton Casino have to do with Kelowna, Donald?

To XT225 ...
Oops. That is what comes from not reading the previously posted comments. I am sure that the City of Penticton will be more than happy to have the the word Kelowna changed to Penticton.
I would like to say my error was a simple mistake but it wasn't. Keowna just lost a bunch of future jobs and over a million dollars in taxation due to my theoretical negligence. Sorry guys.

NOT a problem, Donald G. We all make the odd "oops".

Todd... that's an artist's rendition. The facade could be facing the lake for all we know. There's not landmarks to base it on.
Ya I get that. Based on the artist's render and the physical location of the building site, one could suggest it would be facing Eckhardt.

Would it not make sense to face Eckhardt? That's the busier street of any of them there. Not sure what good it would do to face SOEC.

Twobits, not sure what it has to do with soccer. Its presently a paved parking lot as far as I can grasp.
Lol on me XT. Before it was paved, it was a single soccer pitch. I just severely dated myself with that previous comment. My third child was a u13 pinnicle soccer player on that pitch about 12 yrs ago. Apparently I did not realize they paved it.
Regardless, I agree with you.....it is a good site. As far as perceived parking problems go....it would only be when a major event was happening at the SOEC and from what I can gather, the Casino is also funding the hockey dorm site being converted to overflow so it's still a big positive.

I'm not sure what good it would do to face the SOEC either lol. I was just suggesting it looked like it was facing Eckhardt. Gives an idea to the footprint of the building itself, and what the future entrance to our city will look like.

After the skaha lake debacle, this one sounds like it may actually be a good decision.

While I am glad for the end result, this was not so much a good decision as much as it was a desperate effort to salvage. To me, with tax exemptions and last minute rezoning on the definition of indoor amusement, it was actually panic and fear that this investment would have gone to the lands of "the spirit of cooperation".
Effective and honest leadership would not have ended up in this contradiction and competition. One hand could have helped the other if their was some understanding beforehand as to what actual goals and plans were. Instead of divide and prosper, we have divide and compete.

While I wouldn't do it, this doesn't prevent another one being built on the other side of the bridge.

Not a chance. The Government would never hand out another Casino License that close to the other one. Plus, we would then have to rename the bridge (hidden pun).

Does the Government have any say on FN lands?

You bet they do. Don't you recall Boonstock on FN lands and the liquor license situation?
