Crime in Penticton

Postby ToddT » Jan 29th, 2016, 3:39 pm

Has anyone else noticed how many break and enters there have been lately? I've attended 5 in the last two weeks, all with the same MO. Also just found out that someone did a smash and grab at one of the jewellery stores in the mall. Is this a sign of the economy?

Cherry Lane Mall. Lots of cops there and 3rd hand that 1 suspect caught and the other fled on foot. Don't know if they caught him or not.
A sign of the economy, probably not as most criminals are repeat offenders who most likely were not legally employed to begin with. With the slack legal system, these lowlifes just get released over and over to repeat their chosen lifestyle.
And people wonder why their insurance keeps climbing.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Inquiring minds want to know, (well, at least this one does) what's the MO?

Can you share any further info?

Could be an insurance adjuster. Or a repair man for doors and windows. Or a locksmith.

A bit too quick to judge?

I was just shakin the bushes to see what might pop out. Wasn't serious. Good points you mention. And here he (Todd) thought he had just been made a full fledged copper.

Seriously if when these folks are caught, wouldn't it be interesting to collect a bit more information about them, and their background to crunch and see if there common denominators to most of these criminals - maybe even different than ones we all assume? Might help identify some prevention programs by addressing reasons that make these folks do what they do. ---- or maybe a serious talk with Santa before next xmas rolls around.

hahaha I think they are more interested in me. Anyways, I work in the industry and often have to help to replace/fix items that have been damaged.
All of the people I have talked to have said kind of the same things, like there wasn't a big mess, it was very deliberate and targeted, (TV's, Jewellery etc...) and all of the places the people were away on vacation, or they were summer homes for people living somewhere else. The homes were obviously cased out to make sure nobody would be there.
