There's actually a bylaw in the City of Penticton prohibiting leaving dogs in cars in hot weather and also cold weather. I think its a minimum $50 fine, up to $2000.

But if the bylaw does not prohibit the idling of vehicles, pet owners will skirt the law. The only exception should be service dogs.

Leaving a running vehicle is the same as leaving open invitation for the local vehicle thieves/ joy riders.
Somewhat risky
Just leave your pet/s at home

I find the difference between cooking a dog in a car and a chicken in a inhumane small cage fleeting and the outrage misplaced.

You are kidding aren't you squash junky? Shade or sun, it's still unbearably hot for a dog in your vehicle.

Happened to stop at Home Hardware today and on the front door it said bring your dog inside if it's on a leash, don't leave it in the car.
