Another one that I wouldn't vote for. Plus, anyone going for the mayors job better have some political experience first. Baby steps; councillor first, learn the ropes; then mayor perhaps.

I actually hope that ALL present councillors who plan on running again, go for the mayor's position. That way all but one of them will be gone from City council after the election! Hoot Hoot!

Dreamon - he just might. But I think whoever runs this time around needs to show that they are running for more than their EGO!!

Typically a mayor is a councillor first. In Cox's case, that could be beneath him.
I would be very surprised if any of the sitting councillors run against him, execpt Sayeed.

Current Mayor and Council have made some mistakes, Skaha Park, capitulating to the extortionists on the casino, but otherwise have done what they said they would do. Growth of the City.
I'm no raving fan of Jakubeit, Watt, Picton or Sayeed, however I think we could (have) do(ne) a great deal worse.

Sayeed? Is he still around? Hadn't noticed. NO thankyou. Also, anyone who tries a run at the mayor's chair without political experience on a council first does not get my X on the ballet.

Don't forget Growth of Debt! We need some new blood on council who are far more conservative in their spending of our tax dollars. I wasn't a fan of Vas at first but I did finally vote for him; at least he would have never gone out and spent like a drunken sailor. Fix what needs fixing first before so-called Beautification. Note that 300 block is almost finished (whoopeee-doo) but tons of city streets and infrastructure are still a mess.

Seriously? Did you wake up 45 minutes after the intermission clip of the dancing hotdog and tub of popcorn and said it was a good movie just so you could justify the admission price?

So now Mayor Jak says we need to get more engaged before the next election, hummm. Community engagement has worked really well over the past 4 years hasn't it? Yes it is important to voice community concerns and issues with those in power over in the big white building on Main, but as many folks know voicing and getting heard are two different things. Below is a link to Mayor Jak's Minute on community engagement:

I also came across the following article, and though it is US based the bottom line of it reflects any community in the US or Canada.

Mayor Andrew.........Lets consider this for a moment........

He is broke and needs the job so he can keep his trinket store open downtown after going bankrupt due to purchasing store inventory on credit cards. He has succeeded in losing his house , moving into his mother in-laws home and riding on her line of credit in order to keep his store open.

Some of you may think this sounds like a personal attack on the man but it truly is not. These are things that people of our city need to know before voting. If someone is incapable of managing their own small scale finances , what business do they have managing that of a small city ?

What has he truly done for this city ? With the exception of squandering tax payer dollars and putting us in debt for years to come........

What is wrong voters these days ? Do people not inquire as to what relevant qualifications our candidates have before voting for them ????? Perhaps we will have a better roster from which to choose this time around as last time there were nothing but crooked slum lords and Jakubeit from which to choose last election.

He has allowed this "social housing" garbage to become a reality in our city. This is nothing more than a federal government plan with which to extricate Vancouver East Hasting of its least wanted street people. Do some research , its a fact. Where do you think the hundreds of junkies that have suddenly taken over the downtown core came from ? Downtown is dying , everyone can see that. There are more junkies and thugs occupying the downtown core on any day than there are shoppers or business people. Ask him and he will tell you its in every city......... But why should we be complacent ? Just because other towns allow this does not mean that we should. It starts with a city council that is there for the city and not for the paycheck. Once that has been established , then and only then will change happen. Take a look at the town of Logan Lake for example. They have no debt but do have a surplus. Tax payers in that town receive benefits in return for paying taxes , free cable is just one example. It may seem a novelty item but the fact remains that they have a beautiful town in which to live , there are no junkies on the downtown street corners , there are no needles being left in the parks , school grounds and under bridges as there are in Penticton and.........they are debt free and the citizens get back what they put into the town.

Please people of Penticton . Be well informed before voting. A pretty smile and a broken record played over and over again are not what our community needs.

feel free to post factual and current evidence to support this.

are you actually comparing a town of 2,000 people to a City of 34,000 plus? [icon_lol2.gif]

How about instead you provide some evidence instead instead of vague accusations. Seems to me you provide no evidence to support your own opposition.

Nice deflection.

This kids is the fallicy known as ‘the burden of proof reversed’

There should be no issue. None with someone, anyone asking for information to support a claim. This offers credibility and credence to a posters position.
If we are truly exploring ideas and concepts they should be relevant and claims should hold water.
Otherwise we can assume that Lizard People are running every nation and the Illuminati and discordianians make up 99% of the posters here.

We either explore facts or preach from the pulpit of argumentum ad populum and fiction.... cause it’s easier for sheep to digest. Your call.
