This year? This month? That day? Since the city's founding?

One would think that it would assist the Police investigation by releasing at least the date and area that the incident occurred, so that possible witnesses might have valuable information to help solve the case. Keeping mum may not help them.

Given that this is a very rare occurrence, I would have to disagree and say they must have a very good reason for this cone of silence. If the general public is not at risk, as they have indicated, why sweat it? For all we know just releasing the name of the deceased, or date and time, could jeopardize a long term investigation by tipping off the guilty that they are being watched. They may be under the belief that the body would never be found because the crime was committed years ago and the body just found to make it the 4th homicide this year. Doesn't mean the crime happened this year. Why screw that up for peoples tabloid needs?
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
