Noticed a brand new Tim Hortons with a Gulf Oil station on the same property. Great blast from the past. I remember Gulf getting swept up by Petro-Canada in the mid 80s. Apparently the brand is now owned by XTR Petroleum. Cool to see. I will definitely purchase fuel there!

Lol, I have to wonder if the Gulf Oil name rights were acquired or it has just been so long that trademark protection expired and the Brand name was re trademarked for free in hopes there were enough of us left to remember it.

For XTR, the first job is convincing gas station owners and operators to switch when their contracts with other big brands (typically lasting five to 10 years) come up for renewal. The finishing touches are currently being put on the first station to sign on, in Port Colborne, Ont. The company is targeting 20 new locations in the next year, and 100 within five years.

While the deal was in progress a few months ago, XTR did a direct-mail campaign to roughly 2,500 Canadian retailers currently under big banners such as Esso, Shell and Petro-Canada. So far, it has received a response rate of more than 5 per cent, and has met with roughly 50 owners so far.

First entry road going to the Prison when you are driving south. Just past the Esso station that was EZ Gas.

Perhaps tongue in cheek....but what a great spot for a Timmies lol. Sheriff's and RCMP should be pleased.
