Hospital Helipad

Post by JagXKR »

Trials are underway at the Penticton Hospital's new tower for helicopter night landings. Just watched a landing take place and the new lighting on top is considerable.
If anyone is wondering what the noise is about it's the future of emergency care for the South Okanagan. The sound of life.
Why use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice.

Fantastic photography opportunity too I'll bet.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Unfortunately there are going to be those who will b**** & complain about the noise.... I'd tell them to go :cuss: themselves
This is emergency care that needs fastest route to the hospital possible.

Nice they used a Long Ranger for the tests. Less than half the size of the interior medi-vac helicopter.

^^^^ no doubt there will be whining the first day or night day the Bell 412 lands on the roof. Real happy Penticton Hospital has joined the 20th century and put a heli pad on the roof.

Talking to some Ambulance folks recently and they don't think it will be used much at all, because if a patient is that serious that they need medi-vac chopper, it would most likely head to Kelowna. Not saying it will never get used (and its good to have it); just don't think it will be that busy at all.

The noise was not excessive at all; rather fun to watch.

It gives the pilots an option if something happens to the patient during the flight, he/she may not make it to Kelowna or elsewhere.

That might be true now, but it was appropriate to plan for the future. There will sooner rahter than later be specialists like vascular surgeons and the like here in the south that are not currently resident.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
