Was it dismantled for scrap? I seem to remember it was taken by the railway for use at a different location.

Is the town mature enough to use it in a positive manner? Would PIB be on board?

I would hope now there is enough maturity to bring something like this bridge back. The KVR is already mostly there and is such a golden opportunity for the town. I am stunned everyday to think how using the KVR as a multi-use trail has been squandered and neglected. I would argue it is one of the largest failings of Penticton as a whole. I'd be happy to donate my time to helping relink this transport route for multi-sport use.

From the channel crossing to Skaha is all on PIB lands, has nothing to do with Penticton dropping the ball on using the KVR as a multi use trail.

I would suggest to march over to the band office and discuss it with them.
You will be in for a bit of disappointment though. [icon_lol2.gif]

The cycling route through downtown is a joke. The city wants it to go down lovely Martin or beautiful Winnipeg?
Why not tour buses for those picturesque routes? "to your left are some of our resident junkies shooting up, and if you look to your right you will see the same thing".

My Penticton has some common sense attached. My lake to lake bike route would be be either the east or west side sidewalk of Skaha Lake Rd to Main at Kinney.....then at Eckhart, diverted to Martin or Ellis to the lake. Designate one side to north/south multi use travel and the opposite side pedestrian and scooter only. For cripes sake, our sidewalks are the second least under used City real estate next to bike lanes. The designations can be revisited when sidewalk user data changes.
