What does your Penticton look like?

I wanted to inspire some community planning and development. We have so many amenities here, however many appear to be under utilized or supported. What does your ideal Penticton look like?

Mine would see a much more bike friendly future, this would also help out the old people in their E-scooters and tourists get around town.

Primary idea would be the enhance the KVR through town and turn it into a primary walking/ biking/ light travel path. As the KVR heads further south the size changes, the directions become unclear and it gets broken up by streets too irregularly. This is such a gem for Penticton and should be enhanced and celebrated all the way through town.

Can't wait for #6. I live in Trout Creek. Some people already bike along this path (hwy), but without barricades, it's too scary to my taste .

I want numbers 10, 4 and 5.
In that order.
The channel part of the KVR is very rough. Need co-op with the PIB on improvements.

There is also this map from the city

Me too. I'd love to know where you got that map nihiriju? I've been trying to come up with one just like that for a little over a month now. Need contours, will add zoning and infrastructure - have a deadline.

Looks like they (whoever they are) would be dealing with Three Agencies in order to accomplish this:

City, R.D.O.S. and P.I.B.

May not be an easy task getting all three on board but I wish them well.

ps: it was a blooming shame when that Railway bridge was taken out. Its not as if they they needed the height in the waterway for passing tall ships. A strong bridge like that would have lasted for decades if just used for cyclists, pedestrians.

I believe it was from Open Street maps on one of their layers.

That’s just it, it wasn’t used being used by bikers or anyone else that would use it in a positive manner. There were things thrown from it and people jumping off it. It had become a liability and was dismantled. I agree, it’s a shame.

Was it dismantled for scrap? I seem to remember it was taken by the railway for use at a different location.

I have some nugget of recollection that has no veracity about that rail bridge being removed because the Railway right of way now created a trespass onto PIB lands once the ROW was no longer used for it's intended purpose.

What does my Penticton look like you ask?

MY Penticton looks an awful lot like the Downtown East Side of Vancouver on the last Wednesday of every month!

Best regards, SouthernOkanagan.
