Until the first tourist is charged by a confrontational cop. Might as well ban walking on sidewalks too.

I highly doubt the police will be enforcing this
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Once sitting on the sidewalk becomes a criminal code violation like drinking and driving, only then will the police enforce it.

It will be the same as the bike helmet law, mostly ignored.

I fully agree with the ruling; however why just in the Summer? Why just cater to the tourists; what about those of us that live here and work downtown, year round? Don't we count? After all, its the residents and businesses that pay the taxes.

Lol, thats fine. No need to keep discussing tge hypothetical. Be darn sure that I will post the story that will happen this summer. "Tourist ticketed $100 after a night of drinking while waiting for cab".

If the tourist is that drunk that he/she is unable to stand or sit on one of the many benches downtown while waiting for a cab, then they obviously will need to go to the drunk tank.

What benches? City has removed most of them .. Don't want those seniors loitering on Main. Hell - fine them!

The penalty associated with violating the new bylaw is a $100 fine, but that penalty would only come as a last resort following verbal and written warnings, say city staff.
This is a joke. How do you collect $100 from homeless? Wow !!
I mince no words. Spare me political correctness and platitudes!

They wont.
But if the new bylaw isn't created they cannot enforce anything.

So, if they can't fine them, how exactly are they going to enforce it?
