But remembering 20-22 years ago if you were cruising the lake to lake and in between there would be lots and lot of cars and people walking around on the beach or hanging out by their cars at the beach..

Boy things have changed in 20 years...the place looks dead when driving through downtown and the beach.

Cuz there is no where to park anymore and benches are now full cuz ya can't sleep on the sidewalk anymore.

Define " dead" Today Penticton had 2600 road bike participants riding every which way today. That, with family and support people and I'd be thinking "dead" is the last thing Penticton was. Couple of weekends ago it was the Peach car show, before that for those that don't believe Elvis is really dead an Elvis show..
Pubs are busy, wine tasting is in full swing, people training for one thing or another, seniors playing lawn bowls and bridge, can't get any less "dead"

Now, if you are in the demographic that enjoys going to a nightclub once a week? Penticton might not be the place to be. Several have closed down and reinvented themselves over the years to something that will provide the owners of the property year round income and year round jobs for employees. Nightclubs were busy in the summer, but a Wednesday night in February, not, not even in the 80's were they busy then.
Nightclubs in Penticton are a thing of the past it seems, however several pubs stay open later now I believe.

No road maintenance vehicles? It's capitalism 101. If you go out and actually repair roads and bridges, you're wearing out the trucks and equipment and using material and paying employees. It's far more profitable to let the roads decay for a few years and pocket the money.

Contracted road and bridge maintenance isn't about repairs. It's about profits.
