Regional District Fire Ban

Post by trapp »

There is a lot of confusion among campers as to where this ban is imposed. As per Castanet's news report " total ban on campfires within all local government fire jurisdictions in the Regional District of Central Okanagan, including the City of West Kelowna, District of Lake Country, District of Peachland, Westbank First Nation and the Central Okanagan East and West Electoral Areas".

http://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/17 ... -over-risk

This is not the total area withing the Regional District of Central Okanagan. CORD Campfire ban is limited to their Municipality and Fire Department Boundary’s.

Here is a link to the map. The coloured areas are where the fire ban is:

Be safe with your campfires in those areas where they are permitted. Follow the Campfire Regulations.

You would think that the complete opposite would be true: Where a municipal fire dept covers, fires should be allowed at this time and where NO coverage (as in "up in the bush"), that's where the ban should be in place. Kinda dumb if you ask me.
