Yeah I remember some of your like minded saying that back in Saskatchewan when the NDP came up with a plan to "help homeowners who needed help", only problem was their plan never did help any who really needed it, because the plan stipulated the homeowner had to come up with a certain amount, in order to get one of the grants, and since most of the old people in houses that needed work, didn't have money, the plan was useless to them.

On the other hand the ones who had money, but didn't really need the help, jumped on the plan, as well as the one where they could get 10K for some stupid low interest rate, so they all went out and built themselves new garages, and swimming pools.

The ones who didn't got new carpet and kitchen renos.

What the plan did in reality though, was help the wealthy get wealthier, and put a number of local businesses under because their plan messed with the local economies. Because a whole lot of demand was suddenly generated for carpet, carpenters, etc., anyone who owned a hammer came from Alberta to Saskatchewan and once the bulk of the work was done, there wasn't anything for the locals to do, because everyone got new carpets, so carpet cleaners weren't needed, carpet stores went under because of the sudden drop in business, as did some cabinet shops.

The NDP has a tendency to come up with plans that are never really thought through very well. This proposal would be another one of them.
