Other media outlets are reporting structures lost. Castanet is pretty slow on this one.

Hwy 1 and 97C closed in the area (97C past merritt, not West Kelowna to Merritt portion)

from Drive BC

I would imagine with all the rain the grass and fields grew very tall and have now dried. That's gonna be a tough one, especially with wind

I hope no homes are lost

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has declared a state of emergency, and the entire village of Cache Creek is being evacuated:

The loss of homes and people is one thing, but what's really bad is the Ashcroft weather station is down since the power lines have burned down feeding the village.

P.S. Yes, I know no one has lost their life, and yes, I know that failing to record a record temperature today because the weather station power has been lost is not the end of the world (though pretty close).

Estimated at 4000 hectares now. I believe it's the largest in B.C right now.

My friends in Anahim Lake just told me there are 5 fires right around them. They had really bad lightning today up there. Sorry, this is far from Ashcroft, but hey, they start with the same letter.

As for Ashcroft, many homes have been lost I'm hearing (or at least in the Cache Creek area).
