areas east of the Fraser are on alert because of both Elephant Hill and Hanceville. If those two fires ever merged, that would be one monster of a fire. Not going to happen given there are no trees within 20 km of the Fraser to speak of. Plus, they are still like 90km apart.

Transport Canada finally published the CADORS in reference to this helicopter

Date Entered:
2017-08-01
Narrative:
TSB Report#A17P0104: C-GJHB, a Eurocopter EC-130 B4 helicopter operated by J.B. Air,
was conducting water bucket operations on a forest fire 23 nautical miles South West
of Williams Lake, BC (CYWL). As the aircraft was lifting off from a small pond with
a full bucket of water, it began yawing to the left. The pilot attempted to slow the
yawing motion, however was unable to regain control. The helicopter completed 2 full
turns about its vertical axis before colliding with the surface of the water. The
aircraft remained upright and nearby forestry personnel were able to rescue the pilot.
The pilot sustained serious injuries.
O.P.I.:

Further Action Required:No

Glad it was low and into water. Perhaps tail rotor control was lost.

The fire is now 167,000 hectares. That's over 400,000 acres.

Good, but some fire fighters were trapped tonight as the fire flared up big time. Highway 20 is now shut down in both directions.

Here's a map showing fire outlines.

More evac orders.

What a horribly written article. So confusing. Why they are issuing evacuation orders for Canim Lake is beyond me, especially since everyone got rain last night. Also, why would people in Alexis Creek (west of Williams Lake) register in 100 Mile? Why not Williams Lake? Wouldn't Canim Lake people register in 100 Mile since Canim Lake is just east of 100 Mile?

It is awful. But I'm just the cut/paste messenger. ha ha.

Why not just evacuate all right down to Bella Coola at this rate? :-X
