channel 8 has not been resolved.
That wasn't the same issue she was having, but I'll keep an eye on that thread. Thanks for the link.

You could get the cheapest Shaw internet plan available and keep your email addy. Then get Telus for TV + internet.
I'm paying $45 per month for Telus TV, internet and (free) PVR rental.[/quote]
Is that price a limitied time like for the first 6 months then goes up? Sounds pretty cheap, what kind of channel package, HDF channels with that?
I'm choked at SHAW right now for pulling some channels out of my package that they want me to now pay an extra $4 per channel if i want them back. Also the free laptop deal telus has going is intriguing. Never been a fan of Telus internet compared to what I have gotten from Shaw though..

I got kinda choked recently about that too, until I found out what they added for free over the past while. Also I'm pretty sure you can blame the CRTC for most of the programming quirks with the TV companies in this country.

Sean...Thank you !
Had not one, but two trucks out yesterday...with the miraculously found original work order.
The guy who installed the temporary cable was wrong....it didn't need to be buried after all.....just a new conduit under the house, threaded it through from the main line...and no more cable running through yards and hedges !
( unfortunately, something that could have been fixed three months ago if someone had been sent out when first requested )
But...it's done now

just goes to show that you should never ever continue to talk with the customer service person giving you the go around. ask to speak to their supervisor and/or the next level of customer service, assuming there is levels of support in customer service. well done, sean, again!
if you can read this, you have reeeeeeeaaaallllllly good eyesight, congratulations!

It was originally for one year if I'd switch from Shaw. When the year was up, I phoned Telus to renew, told them Shaw was sending me all sorts of deals to win me back (they were), and I got it extended for another year.
I just get the basic TV package (plus fast internet required for Optik TV), but can add and delete other packages online instantly. I didn't go for a three year contract with a free laptop.
Best thing to do is go to a Telus store and see what sort of deal they'll give you to switch.
When the Telus salesman came to my door, I was trying unsuccessfully to get back $120 Shaw had overcharged me. So I said 'screw it' and went to Telus.
Shaw kept my $120. But they lost a customer for life.

Re: Shaw Digital Terminal
We recently switched our internet and cable also , we were with shaw cable and our bill kept going up and the service was crap , have the time either the internet was done or the shaw digital service didn't work . Trying to get a tech person on the phone was a joke because half the time we ended up just giving up because after an hour waiting seems pointless to wait any longer and I was getting old just waiting for them . We are happy with our new provider telus .

Re: Shaw Digital Terminal
We had Shaw years ago, and the internet kept crashing. We were down for 3 days and I asked for a refund, they said sorry no refund. We went to Bell Satellite, and Telus for home phone and internet. We just left Bell after the amount they were charging covers us now for Telus Satellite, phone and internet. We are now saving over 100 bucks a month to bundle it all up. Something we find funny in this is that Telus uses Bell for their Satellite and they still come in cheaper than Bell. Our tv is the full meal deal, all packages and such. Telus bent over backwards to give us the deal. Bell phoned us for 4 days straight sometimes 3 or 4 times a day to win us back. Told them to get lost and finally we blocked their number from reaching us. We've heard many stories about Shaw, Bell didn't want to cancel us either without a fight - we were with Bell for over 8 years. Our neighbour just moved away saying they won't go back to Shaw now at their new place, Satellite is the way to go for them with Telus.

Re: Shaw Digital Terminal
We just got offered a deal to switch to Telus from Shaw. I called Shaw to see if they would match but got
a confusing response that seems to be summed up as no, they won't match. When I switched the phone from Telus to Shaw, after 30 years, I got the same who cares response from Telus. I had to buy my digital box
from Shaw and despite having to rent the digital box and Pvr from Telus it looks like we will save 50 bucks a month
plus a hundred bucks month for the first six months.
It seems like we will get about 20 more HD channels as well. I am tired of the 2 hour customer wait times with Shaw as well.
I use the word seems because the whole game reminds me of cellphone contracts which are almost impossible to
Understand and always turn out way more expensive than you are led to believe.

the first # months
This is how they get you.
Shaw, Telus, Bell. They all have these "for the first # months" offers. All of them. That's why when you're switching the other company always seems cheaper.
I just started paying for my own cable and internet and for me Shaw made sense because their infrastructure doesn't suck. I'm sorry, but internet and tv through a phone line? That is freaking stupid and for a house like mine with up to 5 computers on at a time, and as many TV's, I'm not sure Telus could possibly offer services to this home. (Without fiber-to-the-door)

Well put - and it's why I stay away from the major ISPs nowadays. Went indie & have never regretted it. :sunshine:

Shaw use to be so good and I think they got too big or something like that , if they don't change there packages or at least start matching other pricing they will lose customers and its too bad

We did. My 151.00 a month at shaw has been dropped to 55.00 for 6 months. Tier 3, phone and internet. 2 hr customer wait is a bit of a stretch too. Maybe an hr for a call back at the most.

I hear you, bro. Sharing your 'pipe' with the neighbours while paying twice as much for it can't be fun.
