hobbyguy, just build your own rig & throw whatever OS you want on it. It really is a lot simpler than you'd think. And cheaper, normally. (NCIX.com is a great place to start - based in Richmond, too)

Thats why you dont go to big box stores...there are many local shops that can customize your computer either windows 7 or 8 and you actually get disks for them too.
just google computer stores in kelowna and you will find them.

That's pretty much my thought - rebuild/build what I want. I've fixed and upgraded a few before, and what I have is plenty fast enough for my purposes. I really haven't noticed all that much difference between my quad-core and my wife's I-7.
I thought my HD was going, but it turned out to be just a noisy fan. So I may be alright for a while.
I'm actually not unhappy with Vista. I backed it up to a portable HD using a 30 day trial of Acronis. I assume? that if my HD fails that will be good enough to reinstall Vista??
