Careful. The last time a girl invited me to come over and watch TV, I ended up moving in.

Because the sensitivity of older televisions is much greater than newer sets, designed for cable, it is entirely possible for this older television to receive a weak signal radiating from an unterminated cable somewhere in the very near vicinity.

I thought you folks might like to know about this program for people who have been affected by the analog to digital transition. The LTSS program has been extended, it is for people who only use antenna for TV ... I was accepted to this program and I live in Kelowna not a rural area, but I was also dependent on my antenna for TV access which is why they accepted me and provided free satellite access. Sooo in appreciation I'm helping get the word out that this program has been extended for a final time.

It is call the LTSS progam and is offered by Shaw Direct.

Nice of them, but in the end it's still a short term solution.

The wording of the documentation I received was that I will continue to have this LTSS service unless I opt into buying more channels with Shaw, then the LTSS becomes null and void. Since I've gone for 25 years with only 2 TV channels from my outside antenna I don't see a need to buy into more channels! As it is I'm getting more than I want of American programming. I also still do get one channel (global 27.1) with hdtv rabbit ears and an analog to digital converter.

I could stand corrected on the length of this program (possibly 5 years) but I can not recall that in my documents ... I will have to look for them. :-) I'm an ol' biddy in 5 years I could be under the ground !

Yep, that's how you did it if you didn't have a cable input on the TV. Otherwise, use tinfoil to wrap a line alongside a live line and get it by induction. 'Nother way was just plug into the box if it was in your yard.

It's not really free TV, it's likely that Shaw forgot to shut off the previous persons cable. That happened the last time I moved before we switched to digital, we actually got more channels for free than we had been paying for before we moved since the previous owners had a better cable package.
