Multiple Room Home Theatre System

If you are looking for multi-room sound, and not video, Sonos is worth a look as well. While NuVo and Control 4 allow for more "smart-home" features to be programmed in, a Sonos system will allow you to listen to the audio from one or multiple sources in multiple rooms simultaneously, and will be much cheaper than the NuVo solution.

Sonos has their own speaker line, but also has components to connect a home theatre system.

foobar2000 + remote app (like foobarcon pro) + rasperry pi

I know someone with a flawless audio system based on that, anyway. Computer-based (plays music files from his desktop, mutli-room + outdoors). At any rate, running the cables like has been mentioned is the biggest thing. (also, this is an ollddd thread, haha - but still informative)
