Really bizarre question

Post by Frisk »

If you can, take off the back panel of your phone and smell the battery area. If you can't, take a big wiff of the charging port or headphone jack. If it smells like mint / coconut / nailpolish let me know. Maybe I'm just crazy but apparently a lot of people's phones smell like this.

That's lithium gas coming off the battery.

Both my phones don't have removable batteries, unfortunately I can't inhale toxic fumes today :(

Is it normal for them to give off fumes like that?

Apparently it's normal. Minty-sweet is a common description.

I just got the strangest look from my boss as he passed me by. As I was sniffing the *bleep* end of my phone.

Either he thinks I have some weird fetish, or we'll be having another round of drug testing by Monday.

Thanks for nothing.

Electronics also emit ozone. I kinda like the smell of that.

This thread is proof that technology hasn't made us smarter! lol
It's possible to do all the right things and still get a bad result.

In some cases even dumber. What else is being sniffed out there?
