I remember back in the '90's digging through the throw away bins at the computer stores to build my boat anchors lol. Working my way up the modem ladder finally getting that 56k! It was nice getting that free dial-up back then. I think the first isp I paid for was Silk, I still have the disk lol.

I used to chat on powwow in the early 90's it talked out loud to you in computer voice.
I used to be able to telnet into the university for my course documents as well.
connecting all with my 9600 modem :D
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

haha I'm the owner of a half dozen IRC channels right now (all private) - 2 of which have active users in the hundreds (tens of thousands for one, if counting registered users who rarely/never login). I haven't touched them in a few months, tho - I really should transfer ownership to someone else. Thanks for the reminder, Cap'n.

IRC is still really handy & useful for some of us geeks.

The good 'ol days. I have original 3.1 win floppies as well, plus a number of applications on 5.25" floppies like masm, turbo pascal, etc. Interesting the 8" floppies were yet 1/2 the capacity of the 5.25 single density.

It just touched a part of my memory that hasn't been accessed in decades.
