Audio Issue

Post by JLives »

I'm stumped. My MIL'S laptop is hooked into her stereo receiver through an HDMI cord. The screen shows on the TV but the audio doesn't play through the speakers. I have already tried the basics like trying a new cord. Any ideas?

I get that issue from time to time and cannot figure why, but if I restart my laptop the speakers will work.

Do both ends of the cable have HDMI connectors, or is one end a VGA connector?

Try running a 1/8th stereo cord from your audio out (laptop) to an rca conversion cord into the audio input on the device, this should solve the problem. Older hdmi devices don't have audio for some reason , I've been through this before.

HDMI sound may need to be turned on in control panel, you can also try booting up the computer with the cord all ready connected. Sometimes that will work.

laptops will by default output sound to the built in speakers. you have to select HDMI as default audio playback device.

Never had to do that with mine.

It's been a puzzle to me too, I can use my laptop HDMI to one of my tv's and get audio, but the other older tv I have to run the audio out to rca in...I don't get it...
