Batteries in freezer
Why is it "they" say put batteries in the freezer or fridge to extend battery life, when minus temperatures kill my car battery?
Any electrical engineers or physicists able to shed light?
I could google the answer but then everyone else won't know the truth.

Would so rather be over educated that a knuckle dragging Neanderthal bereft of critical thought and imagination. Although in the case of Neanderthals, that's quite the insult.

Not a good idea.

That's what I thought too, try ing to start my car on a very cold winter day, cranking amps weren't there. Watching a movie where the characters said to, and thought to myself,*bleep*.

Re: Batteries in freezer
It was touted that they would hold their charge longer but needed to be brought to room temp before using.
All BS.
All BS.

Re: Batteries in freezer
Funny you should post this thread today. I heard a similar thing, except that a lazy battery could be revived by freezing it overnight, soooooooo....... For Shtsngiggles, I've been messing around with an old laptop before doing things to one of the 'good' terminals, so I went ahead popped its battery (sealed in plastic with desiccant for good measure) in the freezer overnight, let it come to room temperature, and now we'll see if it lasts longer than 20 minutes. LOL
I'm thinking probably NOT.

New batteries is the solution to frozen, dead batteries. They make the peas taste funny.

Re: Batteries in freezer
It will reduce the battery capacity to put them in the freezer. Perhaps you're thinking of camera film in the refrigerator? :-)
