Well, I don't need an app to get the music from my ipod to my hears. Just plug in the headset an click on play. Since the ipod has everything I may need built in i.e EQ etc... etc

Apps like these may not interest you - but as I also stated in my my initial post, there are others that apps like these appeal to. Just because you don't require an app that suggests music to you doesn't mean everyone else is in the same boat as you - for others, apps like this can be an incredibly useful tool.

All search engines mine data, so in the end what's the difference?

To each his own, but I find google at least generally gives me the best hits to a query.
