Photoshop vs Corel PSP X9
I've used PSP for a long time but now I am probably about 10 or more versions behind (I have PSP v8) $39 seems like a good deal to get the latest X9 license which doesn't expire. Is it worth going to Photoshop? Would I be missing out on something that I don't know I need? lol. Both appear to support RAW format of my camera. All I hear is Photoshop this and that, is it warranted?

Why not GIMP?

Good question. Looks like a nice editor. I see there is ON1 as well. I don't think ON1 supports RAW from my Olympus O-MD. GIMP may not have native RAW processing either?

I suppose there may be a utility available called ufraw although it doesn't seem to support my camera.

Have a look at Fotor it claims to work with RAW.
I downloaded (just now) but haven't tried that yet.

Thanks to beersuds :-)
A large set of nifty new image tools out there. Fotor seems to not support RAW for my camera (and I thought my camera would had been popular) I think I will download a few of these puppies.

Sometimes you can get a plugin to support your camera's RAW files. I had to do that with my Pentax a few years ago.
My newer Canon SX50 doesn't have RAW but it does have a 50x zoom and is a lot lighter to carry.

I went for Paint Shop Pro X9.
Comes with Aftershot 3 and Particleshop free for ~$70 plus it does RAW with my camera.
Despite all the other cool tools, I am more familiar with PSP.

I traded in my canon SLR a few years back and picked up an Olympus OM-D and a Panasonic Leica 25mm f1.4 lens. I like the portability :-) no other lenses yet. Very good stabilization.
