Happy Aphelion

The moment of greatest separation, known as aphelion, comes at 4:11 p.m. EDT (2011 GMT) today, when Earth and the sun will be 94,505,901 miles (152,092,505 kilometers) apart.

Thankfully we aren't closer or it would be even hotter. [icon_lol2.gif]

I'll be celebrating out of the sun today. It's burning my skin out there now. :130:

Aphelion is the point in our elliptical orbit when we are farthest from the sun. We were 3 million miles closer to the sun (perihelion) Jan 4, 2017.

Sunlight takes just over 16 seconds longer to get to us today than it did at perihelion. Not even long enough to grab my beer from the fridge and get back to the couch.

That's why I moved the fridge closer.
