How Bill Gates cheated me and stole my money

I had Microsoft Word 2007 which I paid for.
Then Bill Gates made XP obsolete so I had to pay for Windows 7.

And guess what - Word 2007 won't work with Windows 7. Bill Gates is a crook. He did
that on purpose. He made my program obsolete on purpose.

Where can I go to complain about Bill Gates?

Get in line. Did you think you were unique in that regard?

Microsoft has completely moved away from the old purchase your software model, to making you pay for yearly subscriptions of their office product.

There are free options out there such as Open Office which does pretty much anything Microsoft's stuff does.

Truth be told I was fine with Win95 as it did everything I needed it to do, yet here we are about 9 operating system incarnations later, and I'm still basically doing the same thing.

I used MS Word 2003 right up until windows 10 with no problems.

I also used Open Office and now Libre Office as they are free open source programs that work as well as or better than Word.

So you bought a program and 10 years (Approx) later your are mad because it doesn't work anymore?

I'm curious as to how many other things you have replaced because they stopped working or you wanted something newer/better?

Are you still using 8 tracks, cassettes, your VCR for example? Pretty much everything has a shelf life. That's just how it works.

I have used Libre office and open office as well. I found open office doing some weird stalls and hiccups while using the software so i gave up on it. (I was using office 2007 on windows 10 pro)

I have office 2016 home and student for $27.18. It gave you the activation key, you had to download office from M$. The product key failed to work however so I had to use activate by phone to M$ where it gave you a series of 4 or 5 digit letters and numbers of 7 or 8 sets (I forget now) that got the program up and running. (although I keyed in the wrong numbers in one set, but once I corrected it it was good to go)

PM if you want the link.

I still have XP on a machine running an older version of office. No one forced you to go to Windows 7. If you had made an image of your XP machine, perhaps you could revert back to your old windows. Otherwise, you will have to get a new copy of Office, pay a yearly subscription, or something. Perhaps, you can use Open Office or other free office suites??

Thread should be titled "How to blame someone else for my lack of understanding"

Office 2007 is supported and works fine under Windows 7. Literally 100's of thousands of installs working. Not Microsoft's fault you can't do your homework and choose to buy a newer copy instead.

I spoke with Bill Gates yesterday in order to pass your message on, and he told me that you’ve had way too many freebies already ;-)

Open Office does everything I need, plus I purchased Pages back in 2008 still works today (with latest OS).

Same here I've been using Open Office for years and never had an issue.

Every once in a while if I work with a file someone else made in Microsoft Office, such as a spreadsheet for example, I've run across some minor formatting quirks, but always been able to remedy them pretty quickly.
