New hookup, want to do away with cable-Need advice

So i'll have a good internet.
Got a couple local over the air channels
I currently have and will keep Netflix.
Considering Crave or Amazon Prime.

I currently have a Samsung Smart tv, i did like how the telus cable box handled Netflix, i though it was faster than my smart tv.
Question is what should i do to pick up some series on ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX.
Also would using something like Roku make it quicker than my tv to navigate a couple subscriptions?

1.) A VPN (I use Private Internet Access--about $50 per year.)

2.) A bit torrent client (Free. I use utorrent.)

Download any ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX/HBO/Showtime/AMC etc. show ever broadcast.

Download kodi. Or buy a kodi box off amazon. It takes some figuring out. U will need good repositories. If u are decent with a keyboard you got this. Your entertainment options will be limitless. Its only as good as the guy who sets it up and gets u the repositories.

I would suggest hiring a good nerd for that .

I looked up kodi on google, after reading this thread.

It appears that you can install this on windows, OSX, IOS, android, linux, and raspberry PI. I have been using a windows 10 barebones nuc or mini PC to stream content from the web, although not using kodi. I will have to give it a go and see what it is like. Even though I dont watch TV that much, at least on my tv.... and given I only got the basic package from shaw... I may just forgo shaw now...I use a shaw wholesaler for broadband and phone, (cancom) paying about half what I was paying shaw...now I will cut off shaw completely!
