I talked to few people today.

I need to do outside and in, and the last guy I spoke to said try and wait til they all come, and get them all at once...ie do inside and outside at same time.

I have tried boric acid and white icing sugar, but I am afraid the cats or dog will get at it.

Little buggers they are, and apparently there are many different types.

Those ant traps are the cruel, especially the leg-hold kind... but seriously, I've tried those ant traps and I couldn't bribe the ants to get near it... finally I was grabbing ants and shoving them in the trap shouting "EAT! EAT DAMN YOU!" and even then I think they were just pretending to chew... I think they're a big waste of money.

I tried a product by Ortho called Creepy Crawly... it's a perimeter spray... spray it around the house where the cracks are and it seems to keep them away. Of course you have to re-spray occasionally.

You'll have ants as long as you have a queen in a nest. Eliminating the workers just makes her make more. You need to find the nest to get her as she never leaves the nest. The nests are easy to find as all ants lay down a scent trail so other they and the other ants can find the food again and you just need to be patient and watch them for a while. They will go back and forth, carrying their treasure back to the queen.

You can mix a 50-50 mixture of icing sugar (the attractant) and baking soda (the killer). Ants do not umm ... burp or pass gas so the baking soda makes them explode. Put the mixture in shallow lids - like mayo lids - and place them either near the nests or along their trails. The workers will carry it back to the queen. POOF!

You could also try pouring boiling water down into the nests.
