Pet Peeves

A potpourri of off-topics.

People who work in service/retail who aren’t great at the customer service thing.

Petty rant ahead...

Twice in the last two weeks I’ve gone into a local women’s clothing boutique. Usually only two staff working and 0-2 other customers in store, with three change rooms.

I pick out an item and the one friendly girl (possibly the owner as she’s always there) asks if she can start a change room. To me “start” implies you’re going to continue looking for items to try on. Within <1 minute the other girl (always sour look, never tries to assist) swoops in and clears out the change room. The first/main girl apologized and I go back and get the top (purchased it with some earrings).

Yesterday, same deal. One puts the dress in there, there’s only one other customer in store (who’s paying at the counter with the nice one). Within a minute the other one takes the dress I was going to try on and hangs it up. Again, super small store, only one customer in there, did you not see that literally a minute ago she put the dress in there?

So I go to the counter where both are now standing (main girl still with the customer) to ask if I can still try on the item. Rude one, not doing anything but standing there completely ignoring me. Not wanting to interrupt the transition, I finally leave. Can’t help but think if this was my back-to-back experience that this is common customer service here.

Went down to Ginger Lily with three incredibly friendly, sweet helpful girls. Happily dropped $150.

I hear you.

I wish all service people could be trained in Japanese style where service is perfection and always with a sincere smile. Purchase or not.

So many here appear to be hired to put roots down, through the store's floor. Such a glum looking lot.

Square Fiji water bottles don't fit the round beverage holders in my car.

Oh, the horror of it all.

That is terrible. I completely empathize with your problem. If I was you I would send your complaint to Fiji immediately. Let them know how their sales are being affected by their choice of bottle shape.

Fortunately my box wine fits squarely in my center console, so all is not lost. :130:

People who don’t tip pizza delivery drivers. These kids beat the *bleep* out of their cars because you didn’t feel like cooking. Tip them ferchrisssakes!

Excessive heat.
PLEASE use spellcheck. If that is too hard, consider installing the Grammarly (free!) app that will not only spellcheck for you (AND offer corrections!) but also make sure that your sentences are grammatically correct.

You're welcome.

Weather in the Okanagan is expensive. You have to pay for heat in the winter and cool in the Summer.

When I turn on our scanner and hear that there's a campfire in someone's back yard (about ten minutes ago) and when I read on here that there are cigarette butts all over the Mission Greenway. What's wrong with some people???

Noticing dead leaves on the lake surface as I swim across, and feeling cold spots welling up from the depths.

The loss of summer to another oncoming winter.

Compared to the rest of Canada, we don't have winter. Kinda why I moved here.
