Well said. That reminds me of another way to make friends - go to social events like golf tournaments. Working with someone only develops a friendship so far (unless you're the boss' secretary).

I was highly involved in sports in Vancouver, but have found it hard to find it much harder to join teams in the Vernon area. One way I have been able to meet people around here is to involve me kids sports where I have been able to meet others with similar interests.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Good place. I go there quite often.

I hear you!!!! Hate how hard it is to meet nice, genuine people here. If there's people out there between 25-40 years of age, and feel the same way, send me a private message - I have an idea that could help us all!!! :127:

Ummm...so...isn't this at least the 5 millionth time this has come up?

To the OP...
It is not you...it is Kelowna. Most of the people here want nothing to do with anyone but whom they already know. On Castanet, it has been mentioned before, numerous times, and will be mentioned again soon. Once this thread is forgotten about.
I have been here a few years now (seems like an eternity) and I have encountered the same thing. You will soom be assimilated by the automaton mentality and not worry about friends anymore. Besides you will be too busy working to make ends meet in this money pit, to be able to have time for friends.
Good luck...and pray for a way back to where you came from. Soon you will see the light, and when you do, buy a bus ticket and save yourself from decaying in Kelowna.

I got a funny feeling someone has a website they're trying to promote.
So I love the Okanagan but it's a place best enjoyed from atop a very large pile of $100 bills. - Spocky

We could start one ourselves Phoenix! Let's see, call it " Plenty of Friends" ppl could post a profile, photo to avoid getting stuck with an unattractive friend, the success stories we could run as ads on TV ( Bill and Phil, matched as friends July 2009) and then we could do a television show called " Friends" wait, thats been done, well, BFF then, or PALS.

Perfect, feel free to use the tag line, "Not having a BroMance lately? Log onto PALS" Or, "Hook up for Coffee, Hook up to PALS." Go into competition with Castanet's own Personals section, that's it.

Well... who wants to be my friend?

Two years here now and still haven't made a single one.

I moved out of Kelowna. I grew up there and all my friends were transplants. Not the friendliest city. Victoria is great.
