Defrosting deep freezer. All that is in it is Mr Turkey for Christmas dinner and bucket of ice cubes, the essentials.
Unplugged, used hair blower dryer.... one inch of ice gone on all sides, gently pried off with spatula, fell to bottom. 'Cause I am short, Mr. Just was able to lift out sheets of ice and swab the deck, job complete in 45 minutes. Mr. Turkey and ice cubes didn't know what hit them, but power bill will drop. Now hope Santa will replenish freezer or I will have to unplug!

This made me smile and felt good about saying no!

I have time on my hands lately and have a friend that is suddenly taking advantage of it in doing various favors for her, this is getting to be a daily occurance. She doesn't live close either so I indeed have to go out of my way.
Didn't directly say no but said I was busy and couldn't help her out today. Taking back control.
May not sound like a big deal but for me it was.

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Waking up to my son doing dishes (by hand). I had asked him the night before to take care of them before going on the computer . . . love it when he listens and doesn't give me teen attitude. He normally does them after dinner (sister dries them) but a friend had invited him out to a party. He gave me an address, a phone number, and a time he was expected back. He ended up calling twice to inform me his ride was leaving late. Got home by 11, thanked me for staying up. I so love that he has manners, and is becoming a responsible adult. <3
I haven't failed until I quit.

The 10 year old girl with bright intelligent eyes, rosy cheeks, crazy carpet tucked under her arm, who with a smile and breathless wonder amidst the softly falling snow asked me how my day was going. Such a simple beauty warms the heart if one has eyes to see it.
