I published an album on facebook that has gotten 164 230 258 286 shares and 346 almost 400 likes and counting. The individual comments about their memories of the place I photographed and published are proving to be overwhelming. And people who haven't seen each other since are talking to each other and not just the page's administrators. It's freaking AWESOME! I'm overwhelmed really. My one regret? Not taking more photos of the place, but who knew it would so huge?

It's just growing and growing.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

Dinner out with husband and kids. The table behind me had 3 older ladies (60's? ) on a bender. Made the host come sit with them. Daughter was alternately horrified for the guy and laughing. We talked about school and work and friends. We laughed over coleslaw (seriously, who makes cole slaw with a fruit dressing?) and had such a good time. Best evening out in a while.

That is such a fantastic picture on so many different levels.
It should be submitted to B.C. Fisheries for their cover shot on the next Regulations Synopsis.

Thanks, Makes me smile, I've come back to it a few times..Priceless !

ETA: Found this in an e-mail from fisheries.

You're welcome DB.

I agree that it would make a great cover shot, but unfortunately I don't own that pic, and I wish I had.

Sitting here listening to 7 teens all talk at the same time - yes, I took on 7 teens for a birthday party. Gonna need a big glass of wine later but for now, it is making me smile.

Some alone time, some shopping that wasn't food-related. Some shopping that was food plant related. :)

Earlier this morning....
Went to Mac's for my first coffee, younger fellow in front of me trying to get the darn stack of cups to give up a cup. Wished him a good morning and my view of why it's such a struggle to separate them. heh
I get to the cash... "The guy that just left bought you a coffee"
The free coffee was okay, but the feeling that gesture left me with will carry me through the day.

(Yesterday) - The man up the line from me going through security at Calgary airport is asked to remove his jacket and hat and put it with his briefcase and belt on the tray headed through the scan machine. He looks at her a moment then at the line-up behind him... opens his briefcase, takes out a knitted kippah, replaces his hat with it and waits to be called forward.

It was the lingering looks he got from the scarf wearing muslim ladies working security on the other side of the scanner as he walks on through that was priceless - like they'd never seen "one" walking out in the open before. I'm smiling at the scene ...but mildly annoyed at the same time.

Most European Jews won't go out in public with outward symbols of Judaism anymore. That had better not happen in my Live-and-let-live country - EVER.

I may be a follower of the King-of-Kings but next time i go through a Canadian airport i'm wearing a Kippah - lol

I'm gonna start wearing one of those to cover my bald spot. :D

What made me smile today is that a 10" photoframe I ordered from China arrived today and it works well.
It was about half the price of stores here.

I really enjoy my 'adventures' to the Mac's store for the first coffee of the day. It's operated by several family members of our Sikh community.
Two young men, one very recently new to Canada, talking at the counter.
One asked me 'Could you tell him how this works please?'
In his hands was a Bic lighter
The newer fellow could not get it to work. Showed and explained how it worked, took him a few tries but he finally got it and his face broke into such a smile, like a kid at Christmas.
Funny how something so mundane and simple can teach you differences in cultures and how fortunate we are.

A Bic lighter.
