Buy a coffee for someone
Me and the wife when we go to Tim Hortons will sometimes buy the person behind us in the drive thru their coffee, we had it done to us, so we decided to do it for other people. Just ask the cashier what the total is for the car behind you, and if they are only getting a cup or 2 of coffee (size does not matter) then we buy it for them. That is good KARMA. :)
Does any one else ever do this?

Today i was in downtown Kelowna and was at a place for paid parking, another gentleman gave me his ticket and it still had four hours left on it, i did my business then gave the ticket to someone else, good karma for me also.

I have paid for the car behind us on the toll booth a few times.

Howcome I am never behind any of you people? Oh I know, cos I drive faster then you all :dyinglaughing:
Its a cool idea. We give our shopping cart to people if we are returning it and see they are fishing around for their quarter or loonie.

I do that too Roadie (with the shopping carts).
I too have not been on the receiving end of the drive through but I feel I have had karma come back on me in other ways. Next time I am in Ktown, I will get you to meet me and buy you a java at the drive through... then we can circle around and you buy me one... but in case you just drive away... maybe lets reverse the order of this idea. *wink*

Re: Buy a coffee for someone
Drive through never thought about it.. It's strange also one day in Westbank I went to the drive through, bought a coffee at Tim Hortin, and gave the change back to the cashier she was like... wut?
Then I learned Tim Hortons cashiers don't usually get tip in BC. In QC they always do! :-)
But the parking ticket when I have one with time left on it I will usually give it to someone else.. and if no one's around, I'll go and stick it on the ticket machine so the next one can pick it up.
One day I was at the grocery store withjust money on me.. no card... had 10c missing like it was example 20.10$... the person behind me gave it to me so I didn,t had to remove an item from my bill.

Great idea about leaving the parking ticket at the machine, I never thought of doing that.
Last winter while shopping at Safeway, I met an elderly lady in line who was buying a large box of blueberries. We got into a discussion about her difficulties buying food for her husband as he had very limited choices due to some health concerns. After the cashier rang in her blueberries, she asked for $18.00!! I just about had a heart attack and the woman was obviously distressed but had no choice but to purchase them. The cashier asked for a Safeway card which the woman didn't have. So I offered my phone number for her to use. The cashier then asked if I even knew "this woman" and I said of course I did, we were friends (we had just met in line but what the heck). The look of gratitude on the elderly woman's face is a look I'll never forget. And the best part...it cost me nothing.
Edited to add: "Club price" was $9.00

So safeway
a huge corporation that makes $millions in profit
forces people who don't want to sign up for a card to pay
a penalty, every time they buy stuff.
I think that's disgusting.

Save-On-Foods is the same but the cashiers have no problem with letting a person without a card use mine.

I think it's disgusting too, especially for the tourists. Even though the card is free, who wants to have the hassle when on holidays. I've been stopped twice before at Safeway from trying to share my card with stangers so it's good to hear Save-on allows it.
Sorry Norma, can't agree with you. Maybe Karma isn't the right word but I firmly believe you get what you give in life. Maybe the old guy was having an off day but I bet you felt good for doing it.

We were at at tournament in the Kootenays years ago, and stopped in Save On for fruit and stuff and when asked to present our card we said we were not from there. The clerk said no problem, we have a guest card, she was really nice. I don't think it's about the store, but the mood of the clerk.
We can't really afford to buy "extras", so we like to help, like reach for something on the top shelf or help someone find something when the clerk can only lift a finger to point.
