Record breaking heat

In the South Okanagan, Penticton’s highest temperature on Friday was 28.9 C which also broke the 1926 record of 27.2 C.

WRONG! The Penticton record is 31.1 set in 1948. No record was broken on Friday or any day this week since Penticton did not exceed 30 degrees. Summerland did match their 1948 record by reaching 30.5.

On Friday, the majority of cities in the area, including Kelowna, Vernon, Penticton, Princeton, Summerland and Salmon Arm, all set heat records that go back as far as 1926.

Mostly true. Kelowna did break the 2002 record of 29.0 by reaching 30.7,and Princeton beat their 2009 record by 0.2 degrees by reaching 32.4 on Friday. Salmon Arm set the record for the current weather station only because this station only goes back to the 90s. Other stations were 2 degrees warmer than yesterday's 28.8 back in 1940. Not mentioned here is Osoyoos that broke a record Friday by reaching 33.2 The old record was 32.4.
