How Does An Owl Fly So Silently?

Post by oneh2obabe »

BBC Earth enlisted the help of audio technicians and and their fancy recording equipment to capture the sound of birds in flight, and demonstrate just how insanely quiet owls are when they fly. They pull it off thanks to their efficient, glider-like wing design.

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

The Royal BC Museum had a demonstration the last time I was there showing the difference between an owl and an eagle. Fascinating stuff. Even when we manually flapped the wings at the same rates, there was no sound from the owl wing.

This is why your pets and the mice don't see the owls coming until it's too late.
