Mandarin oranges

Post by Urbane »

My wife, who says I spend too much time on here, just asked me to come on here and see if anyone knows why there seems to be a shortage of Mandarin oranges this year. I found one box a week ago but most stores don't seem to have any. Anyone else finding the same thing or am I just looking in the wrong places?

There is always some when I walk in the door at Save on in the mission. They have had them for at least 3-4 weeks.
Are you looking for a specific brand?
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?

No, but looking in West Kelowna. I'm heading to the big city shortly though so I'll try out Save On Foods in the Mission. Thanks!

Maybe its just me, every time I walk by the display their is someone doing orange swap between boxes.
So someone who does not look is going to be buying ugly surprise.

I have noticed for the last couple of years less and less oranges of all kinds in the stores, and the mandarins aren't as good as they used to be.

I planted a seed from one of those tiny seedless oranges last year, it stopped growing at 12 inches.

It's just too early in the season yet. Wait 2-3 weeks. They will be of better quality and larger in size.

That's my problem! I'm eating too many seeds.

We have been through several boxes already. I have been getting them at Safeway.

Weird, our wives must be related!

As for oranges, I've been picking up a box every week at Save on Foods for a month now. They've been on sale for 4.99/ box the whole time (regular something like 6.99). That reminds me... going to get more right now.

Too bad they all seem to be from China. If you saw the polluted water used to grow most of their crops you'd know why the taste isn't there.

Mandarins aren't on the list but it makes you wonder. I miss my mandarins but want my health!

I only buy organic oranges from usually California. Check your labels as non organic oranges sometime contains additives to enhance the look of the orange.
